Seed is used as a vermifuge, the bark of the root in toothache and decoction of leaves as a gargle in sore-throat and in making a soothing ointment. It is a variable plant ranging from a small shrub 1 – 2 metres tall to a small tree or even a twining climbing plant. The plant is commonly harvested from the wild for local use, in particular it is widely used as an anthelmintic.
