he wood contain various alkaloids and quassinoids, including beta-carboline, and has been used for the treatment of dyspepsia, bronchitis, ophthalmia and snake bite.  highly viscous aromatic resin, also called halmaddi is obtained when incisions are made in the bark. It is collected for local use as incense.
